Mental Health Awareness Program in Kadavu


Vinakavakalevu Medical Services Pacific for supporting the 9 day Mental Health Awareness Program in Kadavu conducted by the Fiji Police Psychology Unit.

The joint awareness programs was a holistic approach that promoted general wellbeing and health focusing on the cultural/spiritual aspects of dealing with mental health issues.

Force Psychologist Nicholas Fuata stated that the family structure played a huge role in enabling functionality of everyday family life.

The highlight of the trip was MSP’s session with the children in Vunisea conducting awareness on child abuse, the availability of a child helpline that they could access its service by dialing 1325.

Children were also made aware of the different types of touches even if it's a family member or friend.

Safe (good) touches versus unsafe (bad) touches.
