Thirty four Police officers from Fiji, Tuvalu Police Service and Kiribati Police Service have completed a five-week Investigators Level 2 course facilitated at the Fiji Police Academy in Nasova Closing the regional course was the Commissioner of Police Rusiate Tudravu who acknowledged the financial and technical support of partners Australian Federal Police, UK in Fiji and New Zealand Police.
The course is an extension of the Pacific Islands Chiefs of Police Community for Law Enforcement Cooperation (PCLEC).
Commissioner Tudravu said “It’s usually the norm to congratulate you all on the successful completion of any training, but I will not do that today.
From a leadership perspective, success can only be truly measured by outputs.” With the growing threats of transnational crime in the region, Commissioner Tudravu said, “While our laws and legislations may differ, the principle of investigations and police work are the same.
You cannot be complacent or take shortcuts with the conduct of investigations, as it will further victimise the victim who has to live with the knowledge that the perpetrator remains free due to the poor conduct of investigation.”
He went on to stress the importance of networking amongst law enforcement in tackling transnational crimes threatening the Pacific region.
