Suspects charged for scam


The Fiji Police Force Mpaisa Taskforce has charged a 23-year-old unemployed woman of Rakiraki for obtaining financial advantage .

Investigations revealed that she dishonestly obtained $336.00 from a member of a public through the mpaisa platform on 31st January last year.

The funds were automatically transferred to her account, and upon receiving , she withdrew the money that she was not eligible to receive.

The matter was then reported to Valelevu Police Station She is in Police custody and will appear at the Sigatoka Magistrate court today.

In a separate case, a 44-year-old caregiver of Dreketi Feeder Road, Lautoka, was charged for obtaining financial advantage.

It is believed that she dishonestly obtained $250.00 from a member of a public through the mpaisa platform on 03rd January last year.

Investigations revealed that she created a Facebook account for her husband without his concern and was dealing with members of the public.

Her husband is a 43-year-old Disk Jockey (DJ) and provides live streaming services.

The accused was receiving money for services as advertised on Facebook without her husbands knowledge.

The matter was then reported at Nabua Police Station She is in Police custody and will appear at the Lautoka Magistrate court today.
