Thank you SP Morton

It was an emotional night for the Fiji Police Force as they bid farewell to their Australian Federal Police counterpart, Senior (Pacific) Liaison Officer, Detective Superintendent Adrian Morton on Friday 29th of November.

Detective Morton said it had been an honour working with the Fiji Police Force, enjoying the role since taking up his post of Senior Liaison Officer (Pacific) in Fiji during the height of Covid-19 in 2021.

“I have been with the FPF through elections, police funerals, rugby games, visiting Police Stations andCommunity Posts around the country.

Some visits were carried out with my family and I will cherish these moments,” said Mr Morton.

He said he was particularly impressed with the manner in which the Fiji Police Force conducted its operation during the Covid-19, operating from their various bubbles.

Fiji Police Acting Commissioner Juki Fong Chew said it was a bitter sweet moment for the organisation as they bid farewell to a family member.

“We gather to farewell an individual who we first met as comrades, but leave us as a dear member of our family.

DetectiveSuperintendent Adrian, you have been the epitome of the ‘vuvale’ spirit that has been the foundation of Fiji and Australia’s relationship."

He added that the organisation has benefited from Detective's Morton's assistance with training in specialised fields of policing, leadership and the equipping of Command Centres to name a few.

“We are reassured to hear that with your new posting, we will still have the opportunity to meet and network, in our shared endeavour of making - our blue pacific, safer together-. So, it is definitely not moce, but sota tale”.

The Fiji Police Force acknowledges with sincere gratitude the support of the Australian Federal Police under the Solesolevaki Memorandum of Understanding, where Superintendent Morton and other AFP liaison officers have, and continue to work towards addressing shared security challenges in Fiji and the region.
