Members of the Ratu Sukuna Shop N Save Police Blues rugby team are in high spirits ahead of their campaign to defend the prestigious title on the 9th of November at the HFC Stadium against the Republic of Military Forces.
President of the Fiji Police Rugby, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Mesake Waqa says during the visit of the Acting Commissioner of Police Juki Fong Chew and members of the command group to the camp earlier this week, the players and officials had vowed to put all on the line to defend the title for the organisation, families and supporters.
ACP Waqa said the Acting Commissioner’s message to the team focused on humility, noting that with all competitions, everyone prepares and trains for a win, and just as the Police camp is eager to defend the title, so too, will the RFMF be eager for the win.
ACP Waqa said that as the Fiji Police Force celebrates its 150th Anniversary, the aim towards excellence is to prepare the best Fiji Police rugby team, representing policing families, friends, past and present police officers.
“We are fully aware of the difficult task ahead of us as the RFMF will surely be putting all on the line to secure a win. We wish them well and look forward to the challenge on the 9th of November.”
“To all Police supporters, please come down and support our teams in their respective sports, and we wish the RFMF all the best as hosts of this year’s tournament.”
The 2024 Ratu Sukuna Tournament begins on Tuesday with the Boxing Competition on the 5th of November in Suva.
