National Cross Gender Dialogue

The Deputy Divisional Police Commander West (DDPC/West) Superintendent of Police (SP) Aisake Kafoa earlier this week opened the National Cross Gender Dialogue held at the Tanoa International Hotel in Nadi.

The three Day dialogue process is facilitated by Transcend Oceania with an objective to share perspectives and formulate recommendations on the prevention and reduction of violence, and to promote the engagement of men and boys in the process.

In opening the three day conference, SP Kafoa said, “I thank the facilitators Transcend Oceania for providing this platform for us to share our experiences, perspectives, and recommendations by engaging men and boys as partners".

He went on to say, “There’s no disputing the fact that we need to increase the engagement of men and boys in the prevention and reduction of violence against women and girls and other crimes, and the best way is through dialogue”.

The National Cross Gender Dialogue is the activity of the Oceania Men and Boys Engage program and is the Transcend Oceania’s flagship program for the prevention, reduction and transformation of violence against women, girls and other vulnerable members of society by engaging with men and boys as partners in the prevention.

The three day National Cross Gender Dialogue aims to bring together men and boys and women leaders to have a meaningful conversation around the issues of masculinity and the laws regarding violence, gender and social transformation.

Transcend Oceania uses dialogue as a tool to bring together stakeholders that are working in the prevention of violence against women and girls to strengthen mobilization and help create conditions for collaborative actions.
