Enhancing understanding that leadership is more than just about command and control is underway for the senior Command members of the Fiji Police Force.
Supported by the Australian Institute of Police Management's Pacific Faculty of Policing, the Commissioner of Police Brigadier General Sitiveni Qiliho and senior Command members are undergoing a three day Police Senior Executive Development Strategy (PSEDS) Workshop at the Hilton Hotels & Resorts in Denarau, Nadi.
The program tailor made to suit the needs of the Fiji Police Force is aimed at strengthening collective and individual leadership capabilities of the Fiji Police Force Senior Executive team.
The Pacific Faculty of Police team led by the Director Facilitation Rod Smith acknowledged the Commissioner of Police’s support towards the program in developing ?leaders of the organisation.?
Smith said, “as a leader you all have the knowledge, the capacity and understanding, the work that we do is ask the questions, give you the opportunity to speak and unlock the capabilities you have”.
The Commissioner of Police Brigadier General Sitiveni Qiliho said, “I have personally seen the difference in the way we have been able to engage and openly discuss matters and by bringing in more Directors and those in leadership positions, I would ideally love for this same programme to be cascaded down to the middle managers as well”.
The concept of the Programme is to bring senior leaders together to freely engage and talk about issues confronting leadership and management challenges within the organization.
