Under the New Zealand Police /Fiji Police Partnership Programme that was launched in February 2020 during the visit of the New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern to Fiji, New Zealand Police Advisors have been working with their Fijian Police counterparts in the Development of Investigative Interviewing Capability.
This past week, Divisional Training Officers from around Fiji met in Suva to learn the PEACE Model of investigative interviewing which adopts an approach that encourages more dialogue between an investigator and suspect.
New Zealand Police Advisors Paul Van Der Zee and Margo Atawhai Hall have put together a training and delivery package to be used by the Fiji Police Academy as well as the Divisional Training Officers.
Earlier this week, the DTO's and Academy facilitators had the opportunity to learn more about the PEACE model and how to effectively deliver trainings from the New Zealand Police Advisors.
