Preparatory meetings for the annual Pacific Islands Chiefs of Police(PICP) Conference got underway in Suva yesterday between hosts the Fiji Police Force and senior Executives from the PICP Secretriat.
PICP Executive Coordinators David MacGregor and Loretta Hunt-Tevaga met with the Director International Relations Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ulaiasi Ravula who heads the Fiji Police Force hosting Committee.
The global pandemic had impacted Fiji’s ability to host the 2020 Conference which would have also marked the PICP’s 50th Anniversary.
The Commissioner of Police Brigadier General Sitiveni Qliho had said with the easing of restrictions, Fiji was looking forward to hosting and celebrating PICP’s 50th Anniversary as Fiji was where the first PICP meeting was held in 1970.
He adds the Fiji Police Force is looking forward to hosting the 21 Chiefs of Police and their representatives in August.
