The Deputy Commissioner of Police Itendra Nair closed the three day Post Deployment Reintegration Program encouraging the three returning officers to contextualize their United Nations Mission experiences when they resume normal duties.
The three officers are Superintendent of Police Farasiko Matawalu who served under the United Nations Interim Security Force for Abyei and Assistant Superintendent of Police [ASP] Ruci Nasemira and Inspector Anesh Kumar who both served under the United Nation Mission in South Sudan [UNMISS].
The Post Deployment Reintegration Program is designed to assist returning officers understand the changes and new inclusions in policies and procedures while they were away on tour of duty.
With the officers now well versed with the developments after being briefed and visiting heads of Policing Units, the Deputy Commissioner said the officers should take the time to reflect on where they were, and how they can incorporate their UN mission experiences in their everyday work.
“All three of you served in different fields and I urge you to take the knowledge and experience gained whilst serving with the UN and see how you can contextualize it to Fiji’s landscape".
The Deputy Commissioner stressed the need for the officers to also acknowledge their families and loved ones for their support.
“Don’t forget that while you were away serving in your respective Mission areas, your families were also serving a mission here at home.
They too made sacrifices for you and you must never miss the opportunity to thank them for filling in your shoes and holding the fort”.
