Last road fatality

A child and a woman are alleged to be the latest road fatality victims following a motor vehicle accident early this morning.

The alleged incident occurred along the Kings Road near Verata, Nausori after 1am.

It is alleged that the driver of the vehicle, a man in his 30s whilst overtaking a truck lost control of the vehicle causing it to veer off the road and hit a post.

Due to the alleged impact of the accident, the woman died at the scene whilst the child who was rushed to the Nausori Health Centre was unfortunately pronounced dead.

The alleged driver is in custody while Police are looking for another man who was travelling in the vehicle and had brought the child to the Nausori Health Centre.

Police know his identity and continue to search for him this morning.
