Methodist Church supports Police in tackling social problems

The Methodist Church of Fiji says it will continue to support all efforts by the Fiji Police Force towards tackling social issues concerning the welfare of all Fijians.

This was re-affirmed during a meeting held this morning between the President of the Methodist Church in Fiji Reverend Dr Epineri Vakadewavosa, Fiji Police Chaplain Rev. Superintendent of Police (SP) Waisale Tikowale and Director Community Policing SSP Isei Vueti.

Discussions revolved around how the Church can assist in addressing social problems such as domestic violence, drug abuse, child abuse, gender discrimination and supporting the work of Police officers through their various Church groups, gatherings and Sunday services.

Rev. Dr Vakadewavosa pledged the Church's continuing support and said the issue will be discussed during their Standing Committee meeting today at Epworth Building in Suva.

According to Rev. SP Tikowale, graduates from the Davuilevu Theological College were also briefed yesterday about the Church's show of support to fighting crime, and will also be announced through the Fijian Broadcasting Corporation Sunday Program Raici Jisu Matua this Sunday on Radio Fiji One at 8pm.

The organization will set up an awareness program which will rope in church ministers in various divisions and circuits to familiarize themselves with the intentions of the organization towards combating these social issues.
