Trafficking in Person and People Smuggling workshop

The Criminal Investigation Department's Human Trafficking Unit together with Department of Immigration are currently engaged in a workshop facilitated by Immigration New Zealand (INZ) in conjunction with United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime [ONODC].

The main aim of this Trafficking in Persons and People Smuggling workshop is to enhance the cooperation between the organization and the Department of Immigration in combating human trafficking, people smuggling and other related criminal offences and enhance international cooperation with INZ and other jurisdiction through UNODC .

The workshop was also an opportunity for the participants to discuss lessons learnt from joint investigations and prosecution cases of human trafficking and smuggling between New Zealand and Fiji.
