CHINESE OFFICERS FAREWELLED

Another six-month people to people exchange program between the Fiji Police Force and the People’s Republic of China’s Ministry of Public Security has come to end, with the head of the delegation Senior Superintendent Gao Feng describing their experience in Fiji as a memorable one.

The three are Senior Superintendent Gao Feng the Chief of the Chongqing Human Resources Department of Immigration Bureau, Superintendent Feng Hao the Head of the Chongqing Police College International Law Enforcement Academy and Senior Inspector Wu Jun Xiong who is a Chongqing Police’s Regional Immigration Officer

The trio were farewelled by the Commissioner of Police Brigadier General Sitiveni Qiliho and senior officers at the Fiji Police Headquarters this morning.

Brig-General Qiliho said during their six-month attachment with the Fiji Police Force the three officers had assisted in cases not only in Fiji, but the repatriation of a fugitive wanted by INTERPOL and other international jurisdictions, a positive outcome of the Fiji and China police to police cooperation.

A Memorandum of Understanding was signed in 2011 between the Fiji Police Force and the Ministry of Public Security, deemed as one of the most active MOU’s in terms of Police to Police cooperation efforts.

Team leader Senior Superintendent Gao said the six-month passed by quickly and they have been honoured to share their experiences in policing and UN mission area work.

He said the three will take back fond memories of Fiji and the friendships forged with officers during their six-month attachment.

The three will depart Fiji this weekend.
