2021 Fiji Police Remembrance Day


The Fiji Police Force has dedicated the 2021 Police Remembrance Day to their families.

The Commissioner of Police Brigadier General Sitiveni Qiliho during the 2021 Fiji Police Remembrance Day commemorated in Suva acknowledged the supporting roles families play enabling officers to carry out their duties.

This year’s Remembrance Day was held with limited number of attendees with only the family of the fallen officers and a few senior officers, in compliance with COVID health measures.

“While we are gathered in this solemn ceremony to remember our fallen comrades, it is also a day to pay tribute to you, their families”.

“On behalf of the Fijian Government and the Fijian people, I convey our sincere appreciation for the support provided to your loved one during their years of service”.

Between September 29th 2020 to September 29th 2021, thirteen serving members of the Fiji Police Force were called to eternal rest.

The fallen officers were;

1) The late Inspector Elia Waqasoqo (CID)

2) The late Inspector Arieta Namuaira (West)

3) The late Sergeant Peni Waqa Veilawa (Totogo)

4) The late Corporal Ilisoni Baleinamau (Totogo)

5) The late Corporal Solomoni Vorakitaki (CID)

6) The late Police Constable Saimoni Mataomi (South)

7) The late Police Constable Lasarusa Kororua (BMU/HQ)

8) The late Police Constable Mohammed Asaf Iqbal (South) 9) The late Police Constable Monoa Korotolu (Totogo)

10) The late Police Constable Mereseini Adivunisalusalu (North)

11) The late Police Constable Timoci Raua (Bands/HQ)

12) The late Police Constable Jone Temo (South)

13) The late Mohammed Bobby Aiyaz (Civilian/HQ)

The Commissioner of Police said during the COVID special operations, Police officers were often referred to as frontline heroes for the work conducted in support of the whole of Government approach in containing the virus.

Brigadier General Qiliho said the true heroes were the families of police officers and dedicated the 2021 Remembrance Day to all members of the Fiji Policing family.

“Our wives, husbands, fathers, mothers, sisters, brothers and children are the true heroes”.

“Every Police officer irrespective of their rank, owes their success to the support of their family and loved ones and today we pay tribute to you all, and say, vinaka vakalevu, dhanyabad and Thank you for your support”.

The Western Divisional Police Remembrance Day was held at the Namaka Police Station and in the North at the Labasa Police Station.
