ASP Caginavanua Graduates


The Fiji Police Force’s intent on enhancing the capabilities of its young leaders was again realized following the graduation of Assistant Superintendent of Police Ilaitia Caginavanua from the prestigious Curtin University in Perth, Western Australia.

ASP Caginavanua was a recipient of an Australian Awards Scholarship and has graduated with a Masters in International Relations and National Security and a Graduate Diploma in International Relations and National Security.

Hailing from Nabukelevu-i-ra, Kadavu, ASP Caginavanua has more than 20-years of policing experience and has acknowledged the support of the Australian Government and the Commissioner of Police Brigadier General Sitiveni Qiliho.

He has dedicated his achievements to his late father who passed away while he was in Perth pursing his studies, his son, family and colleagues.

ASP Caginavanua has served in various Units including Community Policing, Criminal Investigations, Human Resource Management, International Relations, Strategic Planning, Intelligence and Traffic.

He has also held Operational Command positions in the FPF's Northern and Eastern Divisions and Operations HQ and acted as the Director International Relations.

In March 2019, he was appointed by the Pacific Islands Chiefs of Police (PICP) Secretariat as the Pacific Advisor under the Seconded Police Officer (SPO) Program to the Australian Federal Police (AFP) to lead a Design Team for the Pacific Community for Law Enforcement Cooperation (PCLEC) which was successfully launched in 2020.

The Commissioner of Police Brigadier General Sitiveni Qiliho has commended and congratulated ASP Caginavanua for his achievements.

Brigadier-General Qiliho, while acknowledging the support of the Australian Government and the Australian Federal Police, says the institutional intent on enhancing the capabilities of its young leaders remains a priority to ensure future leaders and middle managers are able to effectively tackle new and emerging policing challenges.

The Commissioner of Police thanked the Australian Federal Police for their continued support as ASP Caginavanua has been given an opportunity to work with his Australian and regional counterparts whilst awaiting repatriation home.

ASP Caginavanua is now on Secondment with the Pacific Community for Law Enforcement Cooperation (PCLEC (with other Regional Police Officers who have also completed their studies in Australia) under the Australian Awards Scholarship’s (AAS).

“Enhanced Degree Program” to assist the development of Capability Delivery Initiatives for the 21 PICP member police forces.
