POLICE REMEMBRANCE DAY AT READY ACTION FORCE GROUND
Hundreds of Police officers, their families, invited guests and friends were at the Ready Action Force parade ground last Friday to celebrate the Police Remembrance Day.
The day was also a solemn occasion for families of officers who have lost their lives in the past year.
Even though the weather was cloudy, the drops of rain which intermittently blew with the strong easterly across the parade ground add more significance to the occasion.
Chief Guest – Minister for Sugar and Agriculture JOKETANI COKANASIGA – reminded the officers that they facing tough times in work everyday.
Cokanasiga adds police work in our society today is becoming more demanding, more complex and diverse, with emphasis has shifted from its traditional role of preventing and investigating crime to amore pro – active role through community policing.
He says it is this expectancy to fulfill a wide variety of roles that make police work demanding both mentally as well as physically.
He adds officers who have passed away should always be remembered for the contribution to the Force and the nation as a whole.
Fifteen regular officers and four Special Constable were remembered as they have passed away in the last 12 months. |
