Family, a man’s best asset

 A family is a greatest treasure that any man can have and with their support, anything is possible.

The Tavua District Officer, Ravuama Nagatalevu stressed the importance of family while officially opening the Tavua Police Station Family Day on Thursday (03/09/10) at the Tavua Primary School ground.

Mr Nagatalevu said it was a joyful sight to see not only Police Officers but all their families gathering in large numbers for their Fun Day in their different respective colors.

“This is a good initiative by Police and I will be discussing with other government department in Tavua to have a similar event organize in order to appreciate the value of their individual families,” said Mr Nagatalevu.

The Tavua Family Day was proudly sponsored by respective business stakeholders around the gold mining town.

Police Officers from Ba and Rakiraki were pulled in to mend the Tavua and Vatukoula Police Station while its personals were given time out to enjoy with their families.

The same message was also stressed by the Regional Police Commander/West (RPC/W), Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Isei Vueti who officially closed the event on the same day during their awards night.

SSP Vueti reminded officers in Tavua that a strong family will lead to a strong Fiji Police Force.

So far this year, Ba Police Station along with Tavua has had their family day and RPC/W will be challenging the rest of the districts in his region on having this same initiative.

Officers in Tavua from different departments were awarded with certificates for their efforts during the year and the station’s cleaner was also recognized for working tirelessly in maintaining the Force’s image. 

Police Constable (PC) 2864 Rasuaki Ralulu was awarded the best Community Policing Officer, PC 3923 Deepak was the best Traffic Officer and PC 3907 Joe Lovolovo was the best Officer in the Uniform Branch.

Acting Detective Corporal 2665 Salesh was the best Criminal Investigations Department Officer and the best Intelligence was awarded to PC 3909 Ajesh Singh while A/Sgt 2420 Pramesh was the best Officer of the West North West (WNW) Command Center.

The special award was for maintaining cleanliness and environment went to the Station Cleaner, Epeli Nabola.

 

 

Uniform for civilians

The civilian staffs of the Central Headquarters of the Western Division have a new look with their new uniform.

The uniform includes a grey blouse, a black skirt for females and a grey shirt and black Sulu for male civilian staff.

The staff gets to wear their uniform on every Monday.

There are about a total of seven civilian staff in the Central Headquarters.

 

Youths taught to combat crime

An awareness programme was launched at the Public Rental Board (PRB) at Natokowaqa to inform youths about various crimes committed these days and how they can combat these criminal activities.

The workshop was opened by Lautoka City Administrator, Mr. Praveen Bala early this morning which included unemployed youths of the Natokowaqa and Banaras area and also the parents and guardians of the youths.

The Force was represented by Regional Traffic Officer West (RTO/W), Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Livai Gotegote, WPC Uluiviti Lagakali, Corporal Bilo and the Natokowaqa Post personnel.

WPC Lagakali informed the youths about the various crimes being committed today and also how they could be combated.

“It is important that we, the female youths, do dress up appropriately so that we do not attract perpetrators to commit sexual offences like rape, assault”, said WPC Lagakali.

The youths were divided into groups of three and were given a question to answer within fifteen minutes. It was amazing to see the response from the youths outlined by WPC Lagakali.

“It was really encouraging to see the support and participation from the youths when they were presenting their answers”, says WPC Lagakali.

The workshop ends tomorrow with the presenting of certificates for the participants.

Western Force to face each other

The General Machinery Western Force team will have some of its players facing each other this weekend (Saturday, 14/08/10) at the Digicel Cup semi Final.

Police Players from Nadroga and Lautoka will represent their different district as they try to win the most prestigious Rugby Trophy in the country.

Representing Nadroga will be prominent Police players like Mosese Volavola, Etonia Naba, Ilieasa Ratuva, Jeremaia Naureure, Inoke Tavuyara and Napolioni Nakibo.

Police players representing Lautoka are Anthony Wise, Timoci Vuedrau, Mikaele Ratuvou, Rusiate Rokotavo, Apisai Turukawa, Sione Cakau and Bill Wilson.

The players will be putting it all on the line for their respective districts and the winner will remain in their district camps while the losing team will rejoin the Western Force camp.

Other prominent Police players who will also play this weekend include national reps in Rupeni Nasiga, triallists Jonetani Ralulu and Setefano Samoca for Nadroga while Aporosa Vata will feature for Lautoka.

Despite being opposition in District Club level, the Police players have one objective and that is to bring back the prestigious Commissioner’s Cup back to the Western Region.

The General Machinery Western Force team will challenge for the Commissioner’s Cup against the holders, the Ready Action Unit team on August 27th, 2009 at the National Stadium.

 

RAU runs Riot over Border

The Ready Action Unit defended the Commissioner’s Cup on Friday (06/08/10) by running riot over Border Police winning 32-3.

The Border Police was a threat during the opening minutes of the game and had lead by landing a penalty just ten minutes within the first half.

RAU replied ten minutes after with a penalty.

Border Police missed three penalty kicks which had seen both teams locked three all at half time.

The defending holders of the Commissioner’s Cup dominated the second half with well organized defense and structured attacks piercing through the Border.

The strong performance by the RAU in the second half provided entertainment for spectators who watched in amazement and this performance had caused heart breaks for the Border supporters.

The Commissioner Western, Commander Joeli Cawaki thanked the Fiji Police Force for bringing such entertaining Rugby to the City of Lautoka and also thanked both teams for the wonderful performance.

RAU will next face the General Machinery Western Force on the 27th August, 2010 at the National Stadium.
