Speaking yesterday at the Nubu village hall, Acting Sergeant Masi Roraveli said that Fijian custom and protocol is slowly eroding due to the abuse of drugs and other newly introduced substances including alcohol.

The drug problem cannot be solved unless the root of the problem is solved, parents are missing from home when they are much needed, and children are left unsupervised and vulnerable to the great social evils that is plaguing Fiji’s communities.

Roraveli encouraged couples at the meeting to be true to their wedding vows as this could be the only most direct determent in battling the social evils in existence in Fiji’s communities today.

The seizure of the ice factory in Laucala a few years ago has put Fiji already on the spot as one of the main possible trafficking and transit points in the region.

The team headed down to Saqani village today, Thursday 08/07/10 and will also visit villages along the Macuata, Bua and Cakaudrove areas.
