A team from the Fiji Police Community Policing will be leaving Suva today for the declaration of Crime Free in the Old Capital in Lomaiviti which will be held on the 9th of this month.
According to the Community Policing National coordinator , Superintendent of Police (SP) Hari Chand his team visited Levuka Ovalau from 17th June to 20th June.SP Hari met with the chiefs, turaga-ni-koros, villagers , business communities, indo-communities ,hotel owners ,market venders, Government sectors , taxi unions and schools as a pre-awareness to the Declaration of Crime Free Levuka.
SP Hari added as a follow up to this program, the team will be leaving today for awareness and as a result the residence of Levuka are fully prepared to assist the Fiji Police Force in the declaration of their town and society.
We have talked to them about the issues on the New Crime Decree, rehabilitation of offenders through village structures, reducing and putting a stop to sexual offence through family values, preventing crime and other prevention measures.
Ã¢â‚¬Å“We are now ready to meet again with the residence of the old Capital,Ã¢â‚¬Â he added.
Meanwhile a team from the Eastern region has also left yesterday led by IP Operations East Peni Dagaga. More officers from the region will be leaving today and the last team of officers leaves tomorrow.
