Police officers needed to be honest in their work says Commissioner of Police Brigadier General Ioane Naivalurua to his senior officers at a meeting in Nausori on Saturday.

The meeting to review police performance for the third quarter of the year was held at the Tailevu Provincial Council boardroom in Nausori.

Addressing his senior officers Brig-Gen Naivalurua said they needed to be honest and avoid being superficial in order to perform their duties well.

" You need to be honest and sincere about the way you do your work and your personal relationship with your fellow officers , do not be superficial, you need to be honest to the members of the communities." He said.

Brig- Gen Naivalurua adds that after a year on the role as Commissioner of Police , he now better understood police work.

He said officers needed to understand each other better as a lot of officers were superficial in their relationships with other officers.

He adds that no tool in this world would be able to enhance personal relationship as it is the human factor that was involved.

" What we need is sincere, honest relationship based on trust, " he said.

He also reminded them the importance of the task as hand looking after the people of Fiji and this can only be achieved if the communities trusted the police.

Brig-Gen Naivalurua re-iterated his inaugural address in September last year where he said he was committed to make the Fiji Police a good , honest and above all a trusted police force.
