Members of the public are once again urged to be mindful of the permitted hours for the use of fireworks.
The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources has clearly stipulated the permitted hours under the Explosives (Fireworks) Regulations and people must not only be mindful of this, but also the rights of others.
As stated no person shall use or discharged any fireworks except between the hours of 5.00pm and 10.00pm and that the permitted hours for the use or discharged any fireworks for the Diwali Holiday shall be between the hours of 5.00pm and 12.00 midnight.
We are requesting everyone to adhere to the regulation and ensure it is followed accordingly as we do not want anyone to be fined or face the possibility of an imprisonment term if caught.
This will only ruin one’s Diwali festivities and we don’t want that to happen to anyone so the onus is on every individual to comply and ensure an incident free celebration.
Caution must be placed on the use of firecrackers and any form of lighting as it could be a potential fire hazard. Children should also be closely monitored to ensure the fireworks are used for its intended purpose and nothing else.
