In conjunction with Station Officer Valelevu, Nabua, and Raiwaqa, they have organized and facilitated 17 workshops within Nasinu, Raiwaqa and Nabua communities from 22nd June to 9th of July 2010.These workshops were made possible through the integration and support of resource persons from UNDP-NICE Project staff, Yellow Ribbon Programme, Ministry of Youths and Sports, and Community Policing. The main purpose of this workshop is to educate and bring awareness to leaders and community as a whole on the basic of their Roles and Responsibility in terms of creating a Crime Free Environment and a safer community to live in.
A SWOT Analysis was carried out after this community workshops phase 1, and the Southern Region Community Policing Unit managed to identify key areas they will need to set their platform on, address and to improve while they are planning for a phase 2 workshops in near future.
These community workshops helps in informing the public of the important role the Fiji Police Force is doing in combating crime and ensuring the safety and security of the people of Fiji.
And in return, the police are gaining community confidence, and involvement towards the Crime Free initiative.
